Today is the day.
We perform A Midsummer Night's Dream as dinner theater tonight.
I am so proud of my cast that I want to cry. Well, there are several reasons to cry, but this is happy-pride-in-my-people crying.
Those of you who read my journal, and aren't involved or going to this show:
You are all totally missing out.
This is some of the funniest stuff I have ever done. One of our actors has performed in this show several times. He's making more-or-less a guest star appearance in this production, as he was not available for rehearsals due to his life-crushing job. He knows this play backward and forward, has played Puck a great many times, and has even done a film version with a local filmmaker.
He rolled on the floor laughing at my treatment of this show. He was genuinely delighted with our take on things and is tickled to death that he gets to be in this one.
Another fan of this show has announced that our "Nick Bottom" is the best at this part that he has ever seen, and he's seen this show a LOT. (Personally, I agree. I think I have TEH BEST CAST EVAH)
Our "lovers" are beautiful and talented, and having all kinds of fun with their parts. See beautiful girls in sheer chitons wrestle with each other. (Beautiful girls like
piratebob!) See very pretty boys in short masculine chitons, and leather accessories. (Pretty boys like
dr_x_online and his friend Monkey.) See them all wrestle with each other on the stage. Come on, the price of admission is worth THAT at least!!
The rest of the "Clowns" are brilliant, and with our new take on their parts it should be all kinds of fun. See
bakadragon wear the world's most horrible Thisbe dress. See
professor claim Locutus of Bear as her "dog". See my mother play "The Lion" and "The Wall".
That's not even getting into how adorable and silly the Fairies are, including Titania and Oberon.
The fairies will get to entertain you for the whole show. They're so funny with their little vignettes and other assorted silliness. Not to mention that this is one of the prettiest groups of fairies you'll ever see.
nysse,
bakadragon,
stl_kitten,
nichan,
bethy_woo_woo, and
sunyudai, among others will be donning the wings and fairy dust for your merriment.
I will be playing Titania, who gets to do some of the most outrageous and amusing blocking ever.
Heh.
thesigother's take on Oberon is really something to see. He is a slightly different kind of Fairy king in this production. Besides, he has that a side thing going on with Puck.
Did I mention Puck?
Did I mention that the Dark Lady of the Sith, Goddess of Dramatic Make-up, Wearer of the beautiful bling, Keeper of wonderful shoes, Maker of "The Face", the Illustrious, Serene Majesty Princess Rosebutt herself,
allura629 is playing Robin Goodfellow, the Hobgoblin Puck. That's right, boys and girls, Puck's battle cry is "UNH!"
And if you miss seeing what SHE does to... er WITH the role, you're doing yourself a disservice.
Just thought I would also mention the yummy authentic Greek cusine provided by Pappagallos restaurant. Folks, you're getting about a $20 meal out of the deal.
Why am I bothering to plug a show that I told you all we had ceased to sell tickets for?
Because as it turns out we actually have a few seats left. Call me today or leave me a comment if you are interested in attending.
There really are only a few seats available, but I thought I would throw it out there for you all to consider.
