Back to life, back to reality...

You know, this really is the quickest and easiest way to tell "everyone" what's going on in my life. I just have to remind myself that not everyone in my life reads my journal.
Heh.
So here's today's update:
When we last saw our Big Ol' Dork, she was working for a local fabric store. The benefits she was offered initially were systematically stripped away, replaced by benefits she could not indulge in. (In other words, no Elegante. Dammit.) Also, her schedule was stripped to the bone, and she only had two days on the schedule this week. One cannot live on bread alone. One must pay rent. One had attempted to find employment elsewhere, with limited results.
Today, I got a call from my boss.
"Would you like to work a few days a week at the South Store?" she asked me.
*what's going on?* "Sure, I don't have a problem with that."
"They're really short-handed, and well... they need some help. I know you need full-time hours... so..." Says she.
"WHAT'S GOING ON* "Ok. Yeah, I can go help out. When do you want me to go?"
"Well. Here's the deal."
*now we're getting somewhere.*
"We need to find a manager for that location, and I have great confidence in you. So I thought you could go and work there a few days a week and try to get the department straightened out, and maybe we could move you into a manager's position out there which would make you a ton more money. Are you interested?"
*Ah-HA* "Yes, I think that might work. I am certainly interested in seeing if that would be a good fit..."
"Ok, well Ms. Jackman will want to talk to you tomorrow."
Sweet.
So.. it seems that I will be quietly phased into being a MANAGER of the department in the south location. Ok, it is a longer commute, but their hours are different enough that I wouldn't be getting up any earlier, really. What's more, the House Discussion has been leaning in favor of being more centrally located, so that will become easier as we go.
Mwa ha ha. It's tantamount to a store manager position. I would be in charge of ordering product, selling product, and making store samples. Also, hiring my own staff. (Are you paying attention out there?) I would want our department to be as fully functional as the one in the North location, with classes being taught, clubs being held and lots of good customer service.
Behold my glory. I hope.
Since I have been the queen of the screwups for the last week, I hope that this is the wheel of fortune swinging the other way.
Heh.

Date: 2005-06-04 03:58 am (UTC)That is the motivation for my interest in your group, and also a reason (allbeit not a major one) for my impending move into the schubox. So if you begin classes at the fabric store for beginners like me, well, I would be very appreciative and want to know about them as soon as possible.
