Tis the Season
Dec. 17th, 2018 05:04 pmUgh.
As usual, I'm giving up all processed sugars on January 1st.
As usual, I'm surrounded by cookies and pies and cakes and things, due to the Holidaze.
As usual, friends and family are giving me SUGAR as a gift for Christmas.
Sigh.
SO here's my annual plea:
Please don't give me sugar and expect that I'll be pleased. Don't give me sugar and expect that I'm going to enjoy your cookies. Don't think that I'm going to get right into that bag of chocolate.
Best case scenario? I'm putting it in the freezer.
But I really need to explain to all my True Believers:
I'm an Addict.
I'm about to kick a sucky addiction, and I don't want temptations in the house!
I love to receive hand crafted gifts. Cut me a snowflake. String beads. Paint something. Carve something.
I love to get gift cards. Even a $5 steak n shake card means I can get lunch sometime when I'm otherwise broke. Same for Target, Lush, QT, Movie theaters, etc.
I could really use some simple cash; fold a dollar into a weird shape and put it in or on a card.
Take me out to a movie or a meal. I love those things and have no disposable income to do them very often anymore.
Make me dinner; have me over and make a meal.
But if you give me:
Cocoa
Cookies
Cake
Candy
Mixes for cookies or cake
Brownies
Chocolate
I'm donating it to charity. It's going right to the food pantry, or to a homeless person on my street. If you give me sugar, it's not going to my house.
