I said help OUT, Dammit!
Feb. 18th, 2005 04:44 pmA while ago, I put out a plea to help Brad Hicks. Brad has many friends, people who read his journal (and friends page), people who he has been kind to or befriended in the past.
Admit it, you like him.
He has problems. Right now, they're so overwhelming that one person can't handle them alone.
Is Brad alone?
I say not. I say that there are people out there who want him to keep living and writing and thinking and teaching. I say that there are people out there who will roll up their sleeves and help him out.
But so far there are only a few of us, and it isn't enough.
Someone needs to work on getting him into therapy, via the Judivine Center, or through state-run counseling services, or a caseworker or *SOMETHING.*
I took him to the Doctor and got him a letter of diagnosis. Now we need to help him wade through the mountain of paperwork, because he needs help to accomplish this. Who can spare an afternoon?
His money situation is so dire that he will have to move out of his apartment.
Who will help him move? Or, who will help him pay his rent?
How many people did Brad invite into his home as long-term houseguests and rent-free roommates when they ran into trouble? Dozens, over the years.
He's not heavy. He's our brother.
