BAH! Sonova...
Jan. 21st, 2005 11:11 pmWell. There's still life in the ol' Monkey yet.
After having gotten a most enthusiastic response (constantly) from my primary contact for the Celtic Heritage Festival and Highland Games, I find out that we're not performing after all (despite being listed in the event schedule.)
Here's a copy of the lovely nastygram I just recieved out of the blue...
This is a far cry from the last communication I had from this group:
And my initial contact for the event just emailed me, so I'm going to see what's going ON...
(Edit)
Ok, he doesn't know WTF is going on, either. I would like to point out that we are listed BY NAME on their schedule of events.
What on EARTH is this about?
Sigh.
Well. Pony head on them, and Willie Nelson as well.
Grumble.
Bed.

As Chairperson of the Arcadia Valley Highland Games, it was brought to my
attention today that there had been some correspondance via e-mail between
yourself and Doc Christmas concerning the possible participation of the Fairy
Troupe at the 2005 Games.
Unfortunately, since Doc Christmas is not an active member of the Committee, he
was not aware that there had been vendor selections previously made for the 2005
Highland Games. Although his intentions were admirable, I'm afraid they were out
of place as the vendor selections have been completed.
I apologize for the obvious confusion this must have caused you, and hope that
you will find another venue for your group.
Sincerely,
(Someone I've never heard of)
Chairperson, Arcadia Valley Highland Games

Lovely to hear from you, and yes, we'd love to have the group down again. Your services to the Childrens' area was deeply appreciated - the kids had a blast, and many learned some interesting mythology as well! I have forwarded this email to the poor overwhelmed and extremely stressed committee member who got lumbered with the admin for the festival - We are very grateful for your enthusiasm, and hope this year will be - absent weddings and rain - bigger and better that the one last year. One favor, though, I need fund raisers - if you could sorta have the "family" get out frequently and hit the public for money for the festival, I think it would be appreciated. More to come.
Kim, last year we comped the Fairy troupe their area fees, and allowed them to have a merchandise tent to cover the expenses. I hope we can do the same this year. Call me if we need to work out any alternate arrangements.
And my initial contact for the event just emailed me, so I'm going to see what's going ON...

Date: 2005-01-22 05:05 pm (UTC)We DID work for them last year. We were expecting *at least* what we recieved last year, which was nothing more than a place to crash (with a shower) and merchanting rights (Which did US no good, really, but our partners (Curious Cat Clothing) did VERY well.)
I'm just frustrated and pissed off.
Doc (My original contact) was shocked and pretty pissed off, himself. We'll see how this plays out.
