I haven't recently gotten my "SQUEE" on, so here goes:

Sirene Absinthe: Spectacular. Very very rich and completely gorgeous once loched. Picked it up at Friar Tuck's on Watson, and discovered that not only have they expanded their line of various absinthes, they also have the miniature bottle versions! I will have two flavors to play with on Halloween (after the kids go home, or at least later in the evening.)

Dear Santa: I can haz?

It's a beautiful female Satyr figure. I love this artist's work, but dude. Sigh. Crave. Outrageously expensive, but worth every penny. It's more than I have paid for any of my BJDs, with a few (very few) exceptions, and it's not even articulated, but... *pines*

Mockingbird Lane: A new TV show, just in time for Halloween.
(Pants, fans self.) Two of the most gorgeous people currently living on the planet are in this, guys. It should not surprise any of you that I'm a Munsters fan (though I loves me some Addams Family action, too) and that I impressed HARD on Lily Munster as a kid. Yvonne DeCarlo is one of my gold standard yardsticks of beauty, period. My GOD that woman was gorgeous and had an amazingly magnetic quality. So what do I want with a weird re-boot that is completely re-imagining The Munsters for current American Television? Well... Herman is Jerry O'Connel. I do love Jerry, and frankly I've enjoyed his earnest, honest performances all the way back to Stand By Me. (Let that soak in for a minute. LOL.) Eddie is a cute kid who will likely go far. Marilyn is Charity Wakefield who should be familiar to me, but isn't. She's knocking it out of the park, though.

But... but... PORTIA DE ROSSI IS LILY MUNSTER. I disagree with her hair color (for so many reasons) but dear GOD! I simply adore Portia. I have loved her since Sirens when she was so full and vibrant and gorgeous. I admit a slight jealousy toward Ellen, who married her. Yep. I'm going to say that, and on this blog. On purpose. Portia is luminous, gorgeous, and capable of such haunting sweetness... so yeah, I dig her as Lily (pun intended; Lily is a vampire.)

So all of this would be just fine with me and would give me a good excuse to add it to my Hulu Favorites.

But I'm missing a character, aren't I? Grandpa. FCCing Grandpa. Apparently when this new re-boot was originally being put together they approached a certain British comedian to get involved and he turned it down and was a little bit horrified that they wanted to even touch the source material. He expressed that it either couldn't or shouldn't be done. The project fizzled and then when it was being given a second go... they put it in front of that same British comedian and asked him what he thought of the new interpretation. He liked the treatment so well that he got on board as both a producer, and also to play Grandpa, the wily old Vampire/Mad Scientist.

Guys, I'm talking about EDDIE IZZARD, for the love of all things dark and creepy!! Eddie Izzard is playing Grandpa Munster!!?!??!?

And he's playing him as a magnificent bastard with a twinkle in his eye and his own agenda. Snort. "Then I shall make cookies." He gets to swan around in fabulous outfits and also occasionally naked. Yeah. I'm in. I'm SOOOO in. Yep.

Not sold yet? We open with a Wilderness Scout camping trip that is attacked by a werewolf. Once the danger has passed, one of the boys timidly utters, "Wait, where's Eddie Munster?"
(ROFL)
(You do recall that Eddie Munster is, in fact, a Werewolf, right? It's mentioned several times in the original series. I always sort of assumed that the reason why he looked like mini-dracula in a little lord fontleroy suit was because his momma dressed him.)

And oh, the house. Perfectly true to the original sets without the sense of claustrophobia that the series always seemed to convey. It's a big rambling mansion with lots of fun clutter lurking everywhere. The Stairs... Oh, the stairs...

I think I mentioned that, back in the dark ages when absinthe was (officially) unavailable in the US, a net-friend of mine wrote a piece on the historical influence of absinthe in New Orleans (http://www.gumbopages.com/food/beverages/absinthe.html), and got some disturbing correspondence (http://www.gumbopages.com/food/beverages/absinthe-heads.html) for his trouble.

Mockingbird Lane - Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love!!! It's restored my adoration for Eddie Izzard (his sanctimonious atheism had greatly diminished my fandom). And Jerry O'Connell, drool. Portia diRossi, drool. Love every bloody minute of that show. Every second. What all do we need to sacrifice in order to get NBC to pick this up?''

Also, thanks for coming to the party - your presence was a luminescent, sparkling addition and it wouldn't have been nearly as awesome without you!
