It was BRILLIANT. Elonka is amazing, but we all knew this already. I made a hopeful connection to get involved in the model contest and panels for next year. I wore and saw many fun costumes. I drank and partied and enjoyed so many good friends. I went to a panel on Doctor Who and a Q&A featuring the aforementioned Elonka. I drank some more. I will have an autographed book from Selina Rosen waiting for me in Tulsa, she rocks. I got to play with a Tesla coil and get paid for my time! Tasty treats and wine reception for the art show. A comfortable room. The Cardinals won the NLDS and how fun to be in a crowd of costumed sic-if fans cheering at the hotel lobby TV. We are truly multi-dimensional beings.
Lonely. I spent most of the weekend being ignored by people I thought were my friends. Frex, I'd grab a table in a common area, see a group of my friends walk in, look around for a place to sit, and go grab a different table. Walk up to a conversation, join the conversation, be treated as invisible, see people walk off without inviting me to join them. Pretty much all weekend. One side effect of not getting out as much as I used to is that I've gone back to not really being an active part of anybody's life. Before the Brad Davidian Compound and Haven/Caffiend, I was a wall-flower; I'm a wall-flower again.
But the Vixy & Tony concerts were amazing, and Pirates Inc were even better than that. And I learned some potentially useful stuff in a couple of costuming panels. So not a total waste.
Um... I said Hi to you as often as I could, and actively connected with you when I could. I hugged you; I don't hug invisible people.
I am sorry that I didn't have time to stay and chat, but as I mentioned I was desperately over-booked for the whole weekend and on stepmom duty to boot. I know that you feel weird being around children so I try not to force you to spend time with mine.
It sucks that you were so left out. Sorry to hear that. Glad to hear that the music was good. Glad to hear that the panels were good. I wish I'd been actually able to GET to the panels I wanted to get to (and that you helped me find.)
