Ugh. My class on Saturday was a complete bust. BLEAH.

Let's start with the driving to work part. I know that I needed to have my tires balanced, but I'm broke until tuesday when I get paid. I drove to work as normal, and when I turned from Page onto Ashby to take the back way in to work, I heard an unpleasantly familiar noise: I had a flat tire. (Now, I did NOT have the flat when I left the house. It went flat at that stoplight!) So I parked the car, and went in to work because I did NOT have time to fool with a flat tire. I had a class to prep for and then teach, then I had a birthday party to attend at 2pm.

I should point out that yesterday I looked awesome, because I was wearing my Favorite Dress and had my hair all looking cute.

I was NOT going to change a tire in the dress I was married in. Period.

So I teach my class. And it was AWFUL.
Yes, every student did manage to finish their project. Yes, I did get some positive feedback from several students.

But we went over by an hour and still had people struggling to finish. I had a class of 15, using the Ruffling foot to make ruffles, then using a sewing machine to assemble the pieces to make a cute ruffled fabric bag for your plastic bags.

I knocked the prototype out in about an hour, counting cutting. I figured that this would be great for a two hour class, because usually any project I can finish in under an hour does well for a two hour class.

I had a waiting list of twelve people, though I had enough cancellations that six of them managed to get in the class. I told the ones who couldn't come that I would reprise the class in November.

There is NO way in HELL I'm teaching that class again. Not even with two assistants (which I DID NOT have) and extra money. Nope. Not doing it.

Oh, and the two ladies working on the floor while I taught? One of them scheduled a GUIDE CLASS that morning. So there was one poor coworker in charge of the phones, the machines coming in for repair, any customers wanting a demonstration, etc.

Then my mother calls wanting directions to the party. I'm so badly frazzled that I am snappish and telling her that I can't really help her right now because I am STILL cleaning up from class and I have a flat tire and AUGH!
She comes to my work in the vehicle she's currently borrowing, uses her AAA to have a guy come out and change the flat (I have a dinky donut. Bleah.) and fills out an application, too. (I'm going to try to get her hired.)

You know, at nearly 37 years old, I shouldn't need my mom to come and bail me out. That's embarrassing.

But we went to the party, and I got to see a 2 year old learn how to blow out candles, giggle over her gifts, give hugs and kisses and play "Bye Bye". I also got to talk to my gamemaster about tonight's game, meet some neat people, eat some food (thank God) and generally be much more chill by the time we went back to Mom's house.

We were going to try to go to Pirates of the Carebbean at the dollar show, but we decided to catch up on Doctor Who. (I'm SEVERAL episodes behind, and it's driving my roommate and family members nuts because they don't want to spoil anything for me.)

Today I get to go and teach, but at least I'm teaching something I love. I'm working with the 830 owners, and this means that I'm not dealing with people of average intelligence (or less.) I swear that there were a couple of customers yesterday that were slack-jawed mouth-breathers. One of them actually gaped at me while I was giving instructions.
And not one asked for help or clarifications until they'd screwed something up.
