Neighborhood News
Jan. 11th, 2011 05:39 pmOh, yeah.
The Monster House is for sale.
The one across the street? It's in foreclosure: available for about $75K.
Come and get it! I need more of Our People in the neighborhood. And there's a Mad Scientist right next door to me!

Date: 2011-01-13 03:59 pm (UTC)The bad news is that it's been empty for at least a year. I've never seen anyone living there, so I don't know its current condition.
Here's the phone number, and I recommend asking for Diane.

Date: 2011-01-14 07:40 am (UTC)She had a chance to buy it and did so... at the top of the Housing bubble (paid way too much for it) and got some kind of draconian loan (probably an ARM) and got to a point where she couldn't afford it anymore.
She basically got her stuff and moved out and is letting them foreclose on it. This was why the police were concerned about perceived activity; they were worried that someone was squatting there or vandalizing the property.
Which tells me that I LIKE the police in my neighborhood. As opposed to that time I got pulled over on my way home from the Schubox and my S.O. was made to exit the car, and was asked if there were any drugs or weapons in it. St. John= Seriously unpleasant police.
Vinita Park= Seriously friendly Protect-And-Serve officers. Oddly, we're in the same zip code. Weird.
