So I get home from The Store on Friday night (Yay! First day open! My shift is over! My dogs are barkin'!) and stagger in the door.

[livejournal.com profile] thesigother and Allura meet me at the door with "By the way, [livejournal.com profile] minidoc is on her way here right now."

Gleep!
Of course, the house isn't fit for human habitation, and I am exhausted and fantasizing about laying down in a horizontal way while someone feeds me tidbits....

But...
MINIDOC!! IS COMING TO MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW!!

YAY!

So, the doorbell rings.

"[livejournal.com profile] minidoc!" we squeal!

Door opens.

Nope. It's [livejournal.com profile] piratebob.
Wow!
Oh, right. She borrowed my cool stuff and needs to bring it back to me.
So, as it turns out, we all skip on over to Pappagallo's and have yummy greek food together. And aside from the neon sign catching fire, it is all good.
But we didn't feel "Done" yet, and the SO suggests going elsewhere. (Nowhere at our house to sit and chat...)

Off to Rivalz. Now, we did try to get out there one night, a few months ago. It was... hiding. (Turned out that it was also closed that night.)
This time, however, we knew where we were going and managed to get there. Sure enough, I wander through the door and get recognized immediately.
Fortunately, it was by someone I really like and wanted to chat with. ('Cause, you know, I attract idiot weirdos like flypaper for creepy flies, sometimes...)
So, I got sucked into a conversation immediately, and then took over some tables. We weren't there long when [livejournal.com profile] bradhicks showed up (YAY!) He was meeting someone there for Wild West Gaming stuff.

heh. Turns out I know her. She used to be really friendly with my previous SO. And his housemate. So, we all had a very nice time.

Ah yes. Rivalz is good. Lack of smoky goodness is also a plus. (Hack. Wheeeeze. Too much stale smoke is just not sexy to me anymore... come to think of it... it never was that sexy to begin with...)

The only thing I would like to see changed at the coffee house is this: They should have more loungeable furniture. More couches and the like. The chairs are decent, and the tables are nice (and conducive to the many tabletop games available for play) but it would be nice to have more couchery going on.

So, I will probably make more appearances there, randomly. Since I am on a "later" schedule that I had been (the store opens at 10 am now) I can be irresponsible and stay out late more often.

Behold my coffeehouse glory. And the resurrection of my former gothness.

Sigh.

Now, I just need to get the measurements for La Mancha so that I can start making those pieces.

Anyone have some used ren faire or SCA garb that they want to let go of? Particularly items which show their wear and tear, or are made of materials that are not necessarily "period."
I have a dozen people to dress, and if I don't have to make all of the damn shirts it would put me in a better mood. I will pay you for the items (although true donations are cheerfully accepted.) Heck, I would probably make you a new piece to replace your old and worn out items. It's a brilliant plan! Get new gear in exchange for your old stuff!

Pappagallo's was superb, it was fun eating with ya'll. I will have to visit this Rivalz, where is it? I miss the days (although, I was too young to see it in full glory) of the coffeehouse. I only was aware of Caffiend (and only went out on occasion, because of a grumpy SO we all know), and wish I could have been to Haven or Gothic. *sigh* It is difficult sometimes to hear talk of the old days...I wish we could do stuff now. I wish I could have been there for the Brad-Davidian Complex, earlier Cons, parties at your mom's house, before things became so, "I miss the old days."

Oh, and I'll ask around about the garb...I know of a few people that might have something. *G* Just a few.

Would you believe that I just passed Rivalz when I was taking some new detour? Spiff. I have class by there. Wanna hang out on a Mon-Tues night after 10pm? I have class about a mile away that ends at 10. Wheee!

The neon sign caught on fire? Okay, you just gotta explain that one...

Fire

Somebody at our table saw that there was smoke rising up from one of the letters (I think the "Y"), and I swear I saw a bright spot where the smoke was coming from. The "R" was already out. thesigother went over and unplugged the sign. The people sitting there were acting as if they didn't even notice him there. Gah. When he came back to the table he smelled like burnt stuff. The owner went over to assist the other table, and saw the sign ws unplugged, so he plugged it back in. We then got his attention and told him about the fire (where there's smoke there's fire, or at least the startings of one). He thanked us and unplugged it again. The end.

Good deal. Fire's pretty, but not very building-friendly.

He he, FIRE! he he.

Yes, once again, my previous training as a waiter makes me unnoticeable until I spill the wine.

I suspect a faulty sign. Neon signs can get pretty warm, but when you can see the smoke...you are asking for trouble.
