So, I am considering many stupid things.

First of all, I want to go to Michigan this weekend. I keep putting it off, but my grandmas aren't getting any younger or more healthy. I promised my family I would come up sometime this summer. I promised myself that I would visit the Silver Leaf faire, and I promised the Lake I would return.

So.

Now all I have to do is finagle the trip in the few days remaining this week. It could happen.

Secondly, I am contemplating an event this fall. I might link it to Crystal Spiral, I might not. Depends upon what kind of venue I can dig up.

I want to throw a Goblin Ball. I want it to become a fundraiser for the Troupe. I have things I want to throw funds at (large, expensive things) and I need some cash flow to make it happen. I have been threatening to throw a Goblin Ball for a while now, ever since the last Spring Fling. In California, a couple of years ago, someone threw a gigantic event that mirrored the Bubble Ball from Labyrinth. I may not be able to put together something quite as grand as all that, but I bet I could put something similar together.

Who wants to help?

I have in mind a ballroom or club, decorated extravagantly like the fantasy kingdom of Jareth, but with my own touches and art direction. I have a DJ already in mind, and very specific musical choices. I want a bubble machine, fog machine, and glitter everywhere. I want there to be actors in costume, performing random bits of theater, comedy and drama for the crowd. I want there to be pupeteers interacting with each other and the crowd. I want drinks and small tidbits to nibble upon.

I need to make the event lavish, and invite the more-money-than-brains crowd to attend. (You poor people who can't afford to spend $40 or more for a Masque, can come anyway if you promise to work...)

Allura suggested that we get local artists (read: us) to make Goblin Masks, and your "ticket" at the door is your Masque. I figure that I can get very nice feather masks fairly cheap from one of my wholesale catalogs, and simple Domino masks as well, to be decorated by troupe members and local artists. It makes a nice souvenir, after all.

Thoughts?

And once again, my usual song-and-dance number

If I only had the time (and skill and transportation, too, but it doesn't quite fit into the song right.)

It's been forever since I saw that movie... So what is it you're trying to throw funds at anyway?

For the troupe. I want to rent an office or something where I can store costumes, props, and set pieces, plus all our camping and merchant gear. I want a space with a computer in it so I can "go to work" and write scripts, set up venues, book gigs, etc.

I am eyeing several local closed schools, including the recently closed catholic school in the parish where I grew up. I figure, a couple of classrooms would be perfect. I would even have rehearsal space.

That's the new plan, basically.

Hmmmm... That sounds pretty cool... The whole school or just part of it? Never occured to me to wonder what happens to schools after they've closed for the last time. That kind of property (and that sort of building design) sounds like it could be very useful for a lot of things.

...

Crap. Now I want one.

I know. After I posted this I looked it up.

No reason why St. Louis couldn't have one, is there?

Did you look at any of the pictures? I need to find a tall skinny boy that I can dress like Jared.
