feeling better... still a dork, though...
Jun. 30th, 2004 11:33 amHey there.
SO I am feeling better today. Not at 100%, mind you, but functional. Maybe yesterday was a MENTAL health day. Seems that everyone was suffering from panic attacks, stress-related freak outs and etc. (Is there something planetary that's making the world crazy?)
Announcement:
I am throwing a party for Allura on July 4th. Those of you who know me (in real life) are more than welcome to come. Those of you who don't know me in real life but want to meet me... this might be a good chance to do so. Send me your email, I will send you directions and whatnot.
Who: Friends of Allura (and friends of mine)
What: Fireworks over the Disney Castle; a Birthday party for Allura.
When: Saturday, July 4th. Open house from 4pm-on.
Where: My mom's house. (My place is too small.)
Why: Celebrate the 4th, celebrate a birthday, hang out and chill.
How:
Originally I had envisioned a "Disney Princess Party" with prizes going to the best Princess costumes, a "pin the slipper on Cinderella's foot" game, Disney Trivia, a Pinata, cake (shaped like a castle) and ice cream, stupid party hats and etc. (More on this later.)
Here's how it goes instead:
Come over, hang out. Barbeque grill will be going, feel free to bring something to grill, or a side dish to share. Feel free to bring a present; or not. Your call. Allura likes animated stuff. Any and ALL animated stuff. She also loves stuffed animals, particularly Ty bears and random cute puppies. (Pugs. She loves pugs.)
We may still have random games, and I will certainly bring Captain Hook's Shipwreck, a game I snagged on clearance which has turned out to be some of the most fun one can have... it's a 3D balancing game based upon a pirate ship. Whhheeee!
We will have cake and ice cream. We will have a carb/sugar free alternative. (Probably Jell-o or those Atkins Ice Cream Bars, which are pretty good for what they are.)
As I am an avid costumer, bonus points and prizes will be awarded to people who come in costume. Go for "animated fairy tales." I figure that there's no reason why Princess Fiona can't be invited to the party, or Sinbad, or Anastasia. None of those movies were Disney, but they all were pretty cool. Feel free to be a villain, a hero, a random minor character.
You can also wear a t-shirt with a disney character on it, or your mickey mouse ears.
But if you don't come in costume, no one is going to make fun of you. :)
I will probably still do the Pinata. (Heh.) It was a lot of fun last year, and this year I will put some nifty prizes in it. Watch out for condoms! (On second thought, scratch that. This is going to be family friendly.)
Which reminds me, feel free to bring the kids. Mom has a great "Kid corner" with toys, and there's a big yard in which to run.
Once the sun sets, we will go en masse to a vantage point for fireworks. If you're planning to be around for this, I recommend bringing a camp chair or folding chair.
So, my week is pretty much cut out for me. Something every night until Monday, at which point we have the children for a week. Sigh.
I love them, truly. However, I don't know how well this is going to go. I am worried that my SO will just park them in front of the TV all day. I hope that he takes them to the park instead, or the zoo, or to the mall to play golf or whatever. Eh. I will take care of evening entertainment for the munchkins. I think we will bake cookies on one of those nights. Perhaps I will blow off cleaning that week.
