Oh, my word.
I discovered Dessa earlier this year, through a fan video showcasing the ladies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The song was "The Bullpen" and the chorus goes something like, "Forget the bull in the china shop/there's a china doll in the bullpen".
It is awesome. The video is, too. I'm pretty sure I posted it here some while back. (If not, you have Google Fu.)
I bought the album "A Badly Broken Code" which had that song on it and it was one of the best music purchases I've ever made. I just plain LOVE Dessa. From the song that drew me to her to pieces like "Into the Spin" and "Dutch".
Earlier this year, this song resonated with me intensely. I love the studio version, but I found this stripped-down partly unplugged and up-tempo version tonight.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. It's called "Matches to Paper Dolls."
Complete with Creepy Doll Chorus. (Ok, I'm not sure that's what she meant, but I picture creepy paper dolls burning and singing. Just saying.)
Oh, and go look up "Dutch" if you like any of her stuff. Also, "Call Off Your Ghost."
Doomtree forever.
