European Plague? Con Crud From Afar?
Sep. 7th, 2014 01:15 pmWoke up with a sore throat this morning.
Aw, for pete's sake...
Two different coworkers returned from their respective vacations with new diseases. One went to Dragon*Con and came home with a great dose of Con Crud. (She called it Con Funk. I responded that Con Funk is what happens when people who fail to shower cram themselves into small spaces like the video room, gaming room, or even sometimes backstage at the masquerade. But I digress.)
She came in anyway, and answered phones, touched the computer, and generally got her crud all over everything. She even warned us that she might not come in the next day, depending upon how she's feeling.
Damn it, stay home when you feel like that.
The other coworker went on a 10 day European tour, but on the way there she shared a plane with a bozo who coughed and sneezed all over everyone, not covering his mouth or anything. By the third day of her trip, everyone in the tour group was ill. She still had it when she returned to work. To be fair, she had two classes last week and HAD to be there for them, but still. She swore that she wasn't contagious anymore, but who knows.
And, of course, with my babysitting all the time, It's also possible that one of the kiddos is a Plague Monkey, bringing me something from their school that their own immune system kicked out, but mine tipped right over.
In either case, I didn't want to cough my chest cold all over my customers, particularly since it is an event day. (and you all know how I feel about all these stupid events.)
When I texted my boss to let her know, she said that I was the second person to call in. I asked if the coworker who went to Dragon Con was the other one.
Yep.
That means she's still sick, which does not bode well for me.
SIGH.
