Saturday, I scheduled time at the Store in order to finish a personal project.

I had four excellent helpers, and they were a lot of fun to spend the afternoon with!

I may try to schedule more of these from time to time. There are lots of troupe-related projects that I could finish, not to mention random costume things that could be fixed or created if I had helpers like these!

Kukla's Sweatshop: I pay you in education, attention, and cookies.

Because I always pay in cookies, really...

In all seriousness, I am delighted with the notion of borrowing the store's wonderful machines and space in order to get a lot of sewing done really quickly.
We completed 20 bags in under 4 hours, and that includes *cutting the pieces*!!

This year (and every year from now on) the Living Tarot will have a great prop: A bag with their card printed on it, from which to distribute their "seeds of knowledge." Since last year the paper bags didn't make it, we had to improvise, and I liked the use of the two fabric bags I had made. We did not attach handles to the bags, because some of the participants may choose to clip the bag to a belt or pin it to the costume. Some participants might prefer a bag with a shoulder-strap, or a satchel-like cross-strap. I will put two safety pins in each of the bags, and my artists can choose to pin them however they like. Straps will also be provided, and the safety pins can serve to attach them.

Because I failed to bring two of the printed cards (They'd gotten knocked off the table. Hmm. Cat-related disaster, maybe?) I have two bags to complete on my own. This should be a piece of cake and I will work on them during my lunch hours this week at work. (Which will be the only time I have available to work on them, alas.)

As for today, I planned to attend my family's monthly Sewing Day at the home of my Aunt-for-whom-I-am-named. However, I discovered that I was unearthly SLEEPY today, and after going to bed at 10:30pm, sleeping in until almost 10am, and eating a hearty brunch... I was sleepy some more. I lay down for a minute and konked out (with VIVID dreams) for a three hour nap. (The cat was on me. See? Cat-related disasters abound in this house!)

To my credit, I did clean the downstairs bathroom. (I hear sighs and exclamations from the peanut gallery; Some of you are amazed! You've seen the horror that is my downstairs bathroom!)
I also replaced the horrible horrible shower curtain (horrors, I tell you, HORRORS!) and now there's a cheerful Ariel (or rather, a cheerful repeating pattern of LOTS of Ariels) there to greet anyone who needs a moment of rest and refreshment. (There were already mermaids in the room, but they were lost among the HORRORS!)

And my bathroom smells faintly of cleaning products and new dolls. (Vinyl, actually.)

After which, I needed a rest and fell into bed with a book and a cat to hold me there.

So, in short: Fantastic Saturday, sleepy sunday, HORRORS! and an evil cat.
