I was at Archon.
Many of you might have missed me. Don't feel bad if I didn't see you or get a chance to talk to you.

I spent most of the con doing one of the following:
Promoting Goblin Ball
Performing in the Masquerade (which means a Tech Rehearsal, a Meeting, and a minimum of four hours backstage, in case you didn't realize)
Sleeping in my hotel room

I arrived at the con already burned out. I accomplished my goals, but I was not in any shape to enjoy the con in the way to which I have become accustomed.

However, if you did see me it was likely in one of the following ways:

Madame Trelawney at the Hogwarts Faculty Mixer. I was late, and ill-prepared but still managed to come across as "organized" and wonderful by my co-hort. WTF? I have a box of Harry Potter Goodness that I can pull right out of my... er... I can produce it.

Sir Not Appearing On Thursday Night: I left an important component at home and had to make a run back home to get it. Immediately afterward, I went to freakin' bed.

The Green Faerie: My green Faerie borrowed Dionysus' head-wreath. I'm sure he didn't mind.

My Satyr Character. Many of you know her name. If you don't, neener. (See, big D told me that if I was going to wear the grapevine wreath, I had to be the right character... so I bought some new horns since my usual ones are MIA...)

Genie and Genie: We were gorgeous. I was in thrift-store finds and [livejournal.com profile] rinae's beautiful harem pants. You'll all have to wait for next year to see my Green Jean-e.

Satan, from "Casey and Andy". No one got it. I don't much mind, except that if you didn't get the gag I came off as someone in a cheap halloween devil costume, not a swopely researched and matched re-creation...
But of course, I had the distinctive pleasure of being at his elbow when [livejournal.com profile] alienzen debuted his Cap'n Spaulding costume: and of course I had done the make-up. Heh. Area Effect Costuming. *Preens*

BabyGoth: I wore that illusion outfit where the slip is the same color as my skin and the dress is spiderweb lace. I also did my makeup like I was thirteen and just discovered the Goth Culture. And carried Haggity Ann around with me. Someone asked me where I got it; I said I made it. They asked me how much I sell them for and I got to laugh at him. Mine is an evil laugh...

Model for Curious Cat Clothing:
I wore my red Faerie dress (with the spiderweb underneath: that was cool!) for the Curious CatWalk parade organized by the Curious Cat Clothing folks. Yay!
I also modeled Karen's stuff in the masquerade. I'll devote an entire post to that later, but suffice to say that we were PERFECT, we nailed the choreography and were utterly adorable and delicious, if I do say so myself. We were completely snubbed by the regular judges but Karen took a Best In Show for Workmanship. WOOT!

I also made an appearance in a new costume based on this poem. I wish more of you had read it so you would have gotten it on the first try...

And I'm going to make a post about that experience, too. O.o

Today I wore something that got referred to as Heidi. Yeah, whatever. I like that skirt and had wanted to wear it anyway. And that gorgeous fall of curls weren't actually mine. (Giggle)

"Swopely"???? GAH!!! He's been adverbed!! *runs yowie yowie yowie into the street*

Thank goodness for 2 different sets of judges. It was really weird to have both of the Best in Show - Workmanship winners (yes, folks, there was a tie - and 2 more different winners you could not have found) be completely overlooked by the presentation judges.

Every single time I saw you, you looked fabulous.

But the nun outfit at the end was the best, even if I didn't get the reference. Yowza.

Scott and I were discussing the lack of workmanship recognition for this entry, and for Bruce's Jester when, Lo and behold, they awarded both Best in show. And I agree with the decision, both entries were fabulous.

(shameless self preening)
Did anybody notice me mixing the soundtracks for Both entries as the awards were presented?
hehehe

Of course we did! It was a subject of considerable backstage chatter, actually. Nicely done.
