I saw something NASTY in the woodshed...
Jul. 16th, 2015 08:03 pmAnd now so can everyone else!
I got my used dvd copy of Cold Comfort Farm in the mail today.
(happy dance)
This movie has EVERYTHING.
A ridiculously young Kate Beckinsale
Joanna Lumley as her snarky friend (and mostly a cameo, really)
Count Adamar as Hunky Farmhand #1 (Seth)
Ian Mckellon spewing fire-and-brimstone AND screaming "FORNICATORS!!" at Stephen Fry... who is creeping all the hell over Ridiculously Young Kate Beckinsale...
See where I"m going with this?
"I saw something Nasty In The Woodshed!"
"Yeah, baby, but did it see you?"
"NO, SETH, COME BACK! I'M A DEAD WOMAN!"
"There's always been Starkadders at Cold Comfort Farm."
"Nature's all right in her place, but you mustn't let her make things untidy."
And everyone on the farm calls her "Robert Post's Child". Like, every time.
Watch it before every family reunion or obnoxious wedding. Watch it when you're feeling blue; Stephen Fry will cheer you right the hell up. Watch it when you've had just about enough of that one person's bizarre passive-agressive behavior.
Watch it for no reason. It's an awesome film.
I ought to pick up the novel as well.
Sometime soon, be warned that I'll put the word out that we're all going to see something Nasty In The Woodshed. I'll make popcorn. It will be grand.
