Ok, more like a bumpy ride.

This week, I get to teach a special class tomorrow, so I have to be in early. I worked until they basically kicked me out tonight, so about 9:15.
I'm not so fond of a 12 hour turnaround. Ugh.

My assistant tomorrow fell ill, so I had to train someone new today. This is not a complaint; only an observation. With a day's notice, I can manage anything.

Tomorrow night, I have INCOMING GUESTS!!! WHEEEEE!!!
This also means some... er... tidying. Eep. I wasn't home all weekend...

Wednesday is a "normal day".
Whatever that means. (Ok, in this case, it means working 9:45-6 on the sales floor.)

Thursday I'm working my usual 1-9 evening shift, and probably packing like crazy for the weekend.

Friday morning (probably) I'm leaving for Chicago. I'm going to Acen for the first time! I'm spending the whole weekend at my table, though. We're promoting the doll convention! We're staying in a fleabag motel a short drive away!

And on Saturday night, I'm driving back to St. Louis! Yay! (Not.)

Sunday, I'm working a 10-12 hour day for an event.

The assistant manager pulled me aside today and told me that I had mandatory training on Monday morning at 8:30am.
To which I said some variant of "THE HELL YOU SAY". I was somewhat more polite.
I then sat down with a calculator and pointed out that assuming that I leave at exactly 6pm on the days I'm scheduled to 6, and exactly at 9pm on the days I'm scheduled until 9, and that the event doesn't keep me past 10 hours... I'm already at exactly 40 hours for next week.
And we all know that being scheduled until 6pm when a retail store closes at 6pm doesn't mean that the employees LEAVE at 6pm.

I'm basically going to go into overtime next week one way or another.
So not only am I *NOT* interested in coming in at 8:30 on a day when I have to work until 9pm, directly after being at the store for a 10 hour shift, but the store is going to pay through the nose to have me there.

NOT a great idea. Nope.

The assistant manager started to give me hell, and I pointed out that we should really rethink the day that we have this training.
We looked at the schedule and realized that while there were a significant number of people scheduled for Monday, two of them came in at 1pm, and one of them had a class to teach, so it wasn't nearly the large number that they'd thought.

So we discussed a different day, and it will work out fine. In my personal favor, that's a week where I am short on hours, so I won't go into overtime but will be replenishing some lost time.

I really think that the assistant manager was playing passive-aggression with me. She deliberately scheduled that training for a day when I'd have to come in early, and when I complained started to give me grief about how if I'm supposed to be the primary educator, blah blah blah...
Yeah, no. I'm happy to teach whatever to whomever. I don't need special training on the Juki machines. (I don't particularly CARE about the Juki machines, which is part of why we haven't sold any. I sell with passion. Period.)

I'm not going to put up with anyone's crap about my shift in status, either.
The good news is that the assistant manager and I usually get along. I'm going to grab her some time this week when there's a minute and chat with her. This usually solves any stupid bullshit that comes up between us.

But this month is going to be brutal either way. Whew.

I'm still contemplating a trip to Michigan on Memorial Day weekend, but only a two day turnaround. I have friday, Saturday, and Monday off that weekend but I'm on the hook for Sunday. (Gee, thanks, guys.)

The weekend after that is Spring Fling.

I wonder if I'll get to go to the faire at all this year?
