Cold, so very cold.
Mar. 5th, 2015 12:21 amSo the Furnace broke down today.
Actually, it may have broken down last night, but I didn't realize what was going on until this evening when my roommate texted me about it.
I have two space heaters that live here, plus a few borrowed from friends. We hung curtains over the doors between the rooms to conserve what heat we have. I've got the projector on (it kicks out a lot of heat) and have been baking and running laundry all night.
I am unwilling to call in a repair technician this late, so I'm going to call at first light. I have three recommendations, one of whom is an old family friend. However, he's in Union, so I'm more likely to want to work with the two in-town suggestions.
My father happened to be coming into town anyway, so he came in tonight and helped me dink around with it. I had the panels off. He found the diagnostics. Three blinks: valve stuck open. Might have to replace a switch.
Not going to do it myself.
Had a couple of friends come by with space heaters and warm wishes. One of them helped me place the space heater in the basement to help prevent pipe freeze. I know that we picked the right place (ok, to be fair my friend picked the right place) when Papa made the surprised and pleased noise.
I could do with less drama, thanks.
I could do with some donations now...
ugh.
EDIT: 3-5-15, 9:45am
So the repair tech is here, and he says that the motor's blown. That's over $800 worth of repairs.
But he checked up on it; IT'S UNDER WARRANTY!!!
So he's going to put a new one in, and I'm only on the hook for labor charges.
Life did that thing to me. Thank you, Universe.
