Thanks for making it easy!
Sep. 19th, 2013 02:38 amDC. It used to stand for Detective Comics.
I have long been a fan. Our pull-list at the Fantasy Shop was mostly DC for most of my life. Most of you know how much I love Batman. I also love Wonder Woman, Teen Titans, the rest of the Justice League, and I'd recently gotten to know Martian Manhunter a bit better and I love him, too. Green Arrow? Yum.
I even like the big blue schoolboy, though I like him best as Batman's foil.
DC.
It now stands for Douchebag Comics.
The pinnacle of their achievement was Batman: The Animated Series and the Justice League stuff that followed.
Since then, they have worked their asses off to alienate people like me. Thanks, DC! Thanks for making it so damned easy to hate you.
Do I start with the awful films? The gag-worthy treatment of Green Arrow in the recent TV series? Birds of Prey?
How about this Ass-Haberdashery:

The short version?
DC had a talent search. (Yay!)
Contestants were asked to draw Harley Quinn. (SWEET!)
It called for four scenarios. (I'm-a get my sketchbook!)
All of them are versions of her attempting to commit suicide.
(WHUT.)
Yep. Want to be part of Douchebag Comics? Draw a beloved anti-hero (villain?) attempting to off herself by standing on a rooftop in a lightning storm, in the mouth of a whale, in an alligator pit "wearing raw chicken"(WTF), and naked in a bathtub about to dump a bunch of plugged-in appliances.
I was fairly inarticulate with rage when I heard about it.
I took a few weeks to chill out.
I have a few things to say about this, but instead I drew a four-panel comic. It's not finished. It is REALLY rough, so bear with me. I'm not even completely happy with the way I rendered my dear Harley. But the idea is there, and I'm still proud of it.
The title on DA is "HQ committing Suicide in the bathtub". THe true title is "EAT ME, DC."
If you want to know what I have wrought, clicky.
IF you want to see me finish it and get it out on the teh internets, comment. I'll tumble it, and all of you can reblog the CRAP out of it for me, eh?
