NPR had it wrong; Dan Savage always does his research.
He's calling for a boycott of Russian Vodka, Stoli in particular. For details, see the above article. His reasons for this are simple: Russia has some spanky new laws criminalizing homosexuality to a level that is truly terrifying.
Seriously, go read that article. I can wait.

I am not sure how to feel about this, since I don't drink Vodka, usually. I also rarely serve it unless I know that I have guests who prefer it. I'd like to show my support, though.
