Because I am insane...

Sarah Rees Brennan is coming to Missouri.

Unfortunately for me, she's coming to Kansas City.

Fortunately for me, she's at the Romantic Times Booklovers Convention, and there are inexpensive kinds of day passes available.

Fortunately for me, I'm off on Saturday.

Unfortunately for me, I have to be at work on Sunday at 7am.

Yep. I'm insane. I got a certain Professor to be my partner-in-crime for this, and I'll be jumping on her like a pink unicorn tomorrow morning to drag her along on my insane quest.

Wait! I'm not done! I'm also going to make my favorite author of the moment... a present! It's on the embroidery machine right now. And I'm going to sew on it, too. After I have a shower.

Who needs sleep anyway, right?


Wait, before I jump in the shower, I thought I heard someone say, "Who the heck is Sarah Rees Brennan, and why would Kukla drive across the state for a long-@ssed day trip on the day before a work event for her?

Sarah Rees Brennan wrote the Demon's Lexicon trilogy (which is AWESOME, btw), the new Modern Gothic trilogy (Of which she has only released ONE book, "Unspoken"), and is the inspiration for my Loving Tribute/Scathing Parody series of movie reviews. She's the one who did it first, and best. She's also the only person to write Harry Potter Fan Fiction that I will actually read. Hell, I love what she writes in the potterverse *BETTER* that what Rowling has been writing.
Yes. Even the Harry/Draco Slashfic. *I got my S.O. to read some of that H/D Slashfic and got him hooked on it.*

Why? Because she's THAT GOOD. She's a massive inspiration to me, and I read her LJ avidly. Go forth and enjoy it for yourself:

The Perils of being a grownup

Ugh.

Everything was in place, but then I checked the weather. We all know how Kuklas feel about driving in rain and worse, right?

Looks like I could get *to* KC more or less ok, but driving home would be another story.

My Teammate and I decided to be grownups.
And also to get brunch.

New adventure!
