I hate that kind...
Nov. 29th, 2012 04:40 pmI popped a fever last night.
Just as I was getting ready for bed I did a round of, "Hey, it's COLD in this house..." and I bumped up the thermostat.
Roomate 1 said, "Weird. I must have a fever because I'm always cold and it doesn't feel cold to me."
Roommate 1 has been recovering from a nasty bug of some kind, most likely picked up at work since many of her coworkers have been calling in sick.
When she said that I laughed and said, "Or I'm the one coming down with a fever." As I got into my PJ bottoms, I was starting to shake. Oh, dear. That's not funny.
Went to bed and was shivering. Uh-oh. And then I heard the wheeze in my chest. UH OH. But here's the worst part: Sometimes I get a fever and I hallucinate. Sometimes I get paranoid. Sometimes I bawl like a baby for no reason. This was that last kind. So I cried it out, then blew my nose (for like three years) and tried to get to sleep. Finally I got up (FREEEZINGOMG) and took some robutussin. Tussin will cure what ails you! It was the chest-congestion kind and I hoped it would deal with the wheeze in my chest.
It did and let me get some sleep. Some point in the night my fever broke and I woke up with the covers thrown off of me. But I was cold so I burrowed back under.
Nothing like cycling hot and cold.
There was seriously no way I could go in today. I thought briefly about just going in to teach, but that seemed insane since I'm still within the first 24 hours of that fever. That ugly, bawl-my-eyes-out fever. I don't want to share. Nope. Not at all.
So I got one of the other teachers to cover my class, but was reminded by my boss that I have two private classes tomorrow. Plus EctoCon begins tomorrow. UGh. I might have to give the EctoCon a miss since I have plenty of goo happening here at home. :D Ok, not really. This is the kind of congestion that actually doesn't affect my breathing (much) and I'm not running with snot or anything. Just tired, and annoyed. I thought I might pop in on the recovering Bakadragon, but I'm not in a hurry to share this awfulness.
So, I watched The Posiden Adventure, which I've owned for years and never seen. Hint: It's actually pretty good!
Watched The Devil's Carnival which I finally managed to pick up yesterday. (Hot topic: You can suck it.)
I ought to get my blue-ray edition in the mail any time now.
Soooo yeah. Bleah. I hate this.
