Here's the vague plan for this weekend:
EDIT: In the first version of this post, I neglected to remember that I have a meeting on Friday night. Eek! No Friday Fun, then.

Saturday morning: Hit the Muny garage sale. I don't know if I'm going to buy much, but I admit my curiosity.
Saturday afternoon: Decorate for Halloween. Ghosts! OOoOOooo Spooky House!
Sunday: For my Birthday, I'm attending a local Fashion Doll club event and running a table. I'll be selling off some of my fashion doll collection (hopefully).

So in between now and then, here's the agenda:
Toes! I am in need of a new pedicure. I like company, so I put it out there: Who wants to get toes done on Saturday, after which we can hit either Mr. Sushi next door or Tokyo Buffet down the street?

I also need to sort through all the fashion doll stuff, and that might mean some bucket-brigade work out of the attic. I have an epic fashion doll collection, and I'm looking to downsize aggressively. Freeing ups space in the attic is paramount, making some spare cash to spend at, say, Archon, is a nice bonus. I am probably going to be doing this on Friday after the meeting.

So your opportunities to intersect with my Birthday Madness this year are as follows:

Bucket Brigade on Friday night, kind of late.
Muny Garage Sale on Saturday (I have room for a single passenger)
House decorating on Saturday afternoon (I could use help for this!)
Pamper yourself with me getting manicure and/or pedicure on Saturday night.
Dinner Sunday night. There are rumors of dinner Sunday night.

Email me or call for more info or to let me know if you're going to come out and play. (Email is ideal; I can't take calls at work.)

Do you like robots? Do you like sewing? Do you like movies about robots? Do you like movies about sewing? Would you like to see a movie with sewing robots? Would your robot like to learn to sew?

Would you like to sew using a robot?

I only ask because that is what Machine Embroidery is: Using a robot to sew. Put the fabric in a hoop and push a button. Ta-da! You're George Jetson!

Curious? Interested? Already addicted?

We have a two-day event coming up at the store. It's hands-on, team "sewing", and loads of fun. We feed you lunch and snacks, too. (Mmm. Chocolate Fountain...)

Usually by now we're sold out, but I've been told that we have a few spaces still available. Jackman's is weird-folk friendly, being an indy fabric store. We host a meeting of the SLUTS every year and have plenty of unusual artists as customers. Come and play and see me do what I do best. :D

*sigh*

There's a thing I want on Ebay right now. The price is steep, but actually a good deal for what they're selling.

Yes, it's a doll. Grin. Yes, it's name is 'Kaka'. New, this would be more expensive, and this is the color I wanted, and it does not have a "face up" either. If I had snagged it earlier this week, it would have included the other face-plate with the sleeping face.

I did get paid from the Shirts order this week, so I do have a little bit of money to play with-as soon as the check clears. I realize that all my awesome friends conspired to buy me a doll just last year, but I thought that I might put it out there. If you want to contribute to this particular doll as part of my birthday present, hit the paypal button and feel free to put a few bucks in my paypal account.

Why this particular doll?
Check out my LJ handle. I'm [livejournal.com profile] kukla_tko42.
The last part is obvious; my True Believers know why I like to associate with "TKO" and that 42 is the Meaning of Life, the Universe, and Everything.

The first half is a russian word meaning "Cute little doll" or "Sweet little puppet." It has been my nickname for all of my life. My father called me that, for two reasons. One was that it was a cute thing to call one's adorable baby with the curls and the giggle. The other reason was that he used to make monster noises at me in my crib (which I absolutely LOVED) and my very favorite was a noise that sounded like "Coo-coo-coo-coo".

Hence, Kukla.

But wait; there's more.
When my youngest brother was old enough to talk, he was still struggling with pronunciation (like most toddlers.) For example, he had given up on the dog's name and had taken to calling her 'Huh-huh'. (Princess.) Keep in mind that Kukla was still my primary "home" name, and so he tried valiantly to say my name but often failed.

Part of the reason why I abandoned the nickname Kukla in my "tween" years was due to the embarrassment of being called "Ka-ka" by my toddler brother in front of my friends.

So there are ways in which "Ka-Ka" as a name is kind of special to me. It reminds me of an unusual chapter of my life, and as an adult looking back on it, it's really adorable to remember my tiny brother looking up at me with shining eyes and calling me Ka-ka. This would be the brother who recently turned 30. I look up at HIM these days.

I also simply adore the Puki-puki dolls, and their slightly smaller counterparts, the Real-Pukis. Puki sounds like Pooka to me, so let's review, shall we?

A doll that is a pocket-sized pooka.
With elf ears and a mischievious face.
Named Ka-Ka.
At an outrageously cheap price (for this type of doll)
In the color I want, without a face up.
Making that silly face with the kissy-lips.

*PINE*
*DROOL*
*WHIMPER*

I can haz?

Edit again!
The seller pulled it down so that she could adjust the auction and give me a couple of days to pay for the item! She also added the closed-eyes faceplate back to the auction!
