I'm a baking fool. Whoo!
I finally got around to making some cookies to share with my housemates and friends. Tonight was an orgy of gingerbread (YEah! Gingerbread Orgy! I wish I'd thought of that while the cookies were still soft... hmm.)
I'm hoping that I can get some help decorating them.
I also busted out some serious Nighty-Nites! I finally got a chance to use the Mixmaster that I unearthed at a thrift store. (People give these away? WTF?!) I ran that sucker on HIGH until the mix stood in very stiff peaks. Yowsa! It's a lot of work to do this with a hand-mixer, though the one I have is very nice. One must not only push the thing all the way up but also mash down the "boost" function to get those egg whites beaten properly. With the mixer, I was able to wash dishes while I worked. (And whistle while I worked, of course.)
This year's flavors: Traditional Mint-Chocolate Chip, with teeny chips and real peppermint extract, and green color.
Non-traditional Orange with semi-sweet regular chips. (Orange.)
Non-traditional Cherry with milk-chocolate chips. (pink)
Traditional vanilla with semi-sweet regular chips. (Snowy white)
Then I made some scrambled eggs (heavy on the yolks) and fried up a breakfast steak. Man. I have got to keep those things in the house! Like steak-ums, but an actual cut of beef!
Tomorrow I am bringing in the crock pot and some beef shanks to make a brisket-esque thing for work. I have to work and the store manager usually brings some kind of food to share, but she took Xmas Eve off for the first time in many years. So I stepped up. Besides, my favorite asian grocery has great beef cuts for butt-cheap. Mwa ha ha!
I think I have all of the presents done. (I hope...) I'm going to do some wrapping before bed, and then shower tonight so that I don't have to get up extra early to wash my hair. I plan to wear the Minkee Santa ensemble! Ho Ho Ho!
