Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!
May. 25th, 2011 11:48 pmSo those of you who did not brave the weather to come to see our show missed a great time!
Yes, there was weather. It's St. Louis; we don't have climate. We have *weather*.
Yes, I had a contingency plan in case of weather an audience wouldn't want to sit through. In fact, Pat's Bar REALLY came through for us and opened up the second floor. We had a nifty space to work in, AWESOME food and drink, spectacularly helpful waitstaff and an enthusiastic owner.
So, we performed our show for a small crowd, but it grew in size quickly. The folks downstairs kept sending new audience members up for the show.
Despite some scenes going... not as planned... the show overall was adorable and fun. We had to compete with the A/C unit for noise, but that meant... we had an A/C unit, which made the costuming much easier to deal with. All of the costume changes went off without a hitch, the entrances and exits had to be reworked but the actors dealt with it with grace and style.
Benedick's mustache gag was HILARIOUS. The Beatrice/Benedick stuff was sparky and wonderful. Dogberry and the Watch were screamingly funny. The Girls were the cutest thing walking. The Guys were handsome and delicious.
And of course, I was fabulous. (grin)
Next year, I think I'll play again. Different show, though. Mwa ha ha ha...
Video was taken. Once we get the thing edited together, I'll have a showing of it on the big screen here at the Mint Cookie.
Oh, and yes: Shakespeare in the Park was cancelled due to weather. *OUR* Shake 38 went off without a hitch. Heh.
