Jan. 8th, 2008 11:53 pmFirst of all, that show I'm costuming opens this week, and has a two-week run.
Room at the Inn is the title. Feel free to buy a ticket and go. It's live theater, it's not expensive, and it showcases a local playwright.
See the glory of my costumes. (Why am I always costuming bums, shipwreck victims, prisoners, and other tattered degenerates? Oh, yeah. It's because I'm GOOD at it...)
Secondly, I have a party to throw. I appreciate all the people who came and filled out my poll, but as it turns out my work made the choice for me. Since my job is hosting a big ol' software event on the 26th, (and I'll be required to help out, most likely) I'm going to have to schedule my party for the 19th!
So, here's the rough draft of the invite. You might get this in your email box, too. I never know who's reading this and how often.
The 33 & 1/3 Birthday Party!!!!
Who: Everyone's invited! Children are welcome, including babes in arms, toddlers, and school-age youngsters.
What: A birthday party!
When: Saturday, January 19th, 7pm until approximately midnight/1am. (Yes, you may arrive late.)
Where: The House Of Party in Fenton. You know the way. (If you don't, contact me directly.)
Why: Because I "turn" 33 and a third on January 23rd. (giggle! accidental pun, there...)
How: The theme is Vinyl Records, a blast from the past!
We've got two turntables (and a microphone!) and we're not afraid to use them! Feel free to bring a record to share. Feel free to dress in a style contemporary with the popularity of music sold on vinyl record albums. Feel free to simply wear your finest vinyl. Feel free to do none of the above, and simply enjoy some music and comedy records!
Gifts: I will have party favors for everyone who attends. Mwa ha ha.
I will graciously accept any gifts, but don't feel like you have to buy me something. Make me a mix-tape (ooo! Mixing my media!!!), hook me up with tickets to Avenue Q, or share music with me in another way (such as concert tickets, iTunes gift cards, etc.)
I want to state very clearly that I do not want *stuff*. I also do not want *sweets*. Any other time of year, I love to get chocolate, cookies and other tasty sugar bombs, but this is the time of year when I need to cut the sugar drastically.
So there will be cake, but I won't be eating any of it.
I want to reiterate the kid-friendly element: Those of you with kids, please come and please bring the munchkins. I *like* kids, and after all "our" kids will be present anyway. We can share the magical world of records with them. It might be your only opportunity to do so!
As usual: there is a grill, a hot tub, toys, music, and something cooked by the magnificent
thesigother. Bring foods to share!
