Over the last four days I've been on a whirlwind tour...
Thursday night: X3
I've not personally read any reviews. So here's my take:
Awesome. I liked X men. I liked X2, but slightly less then the first one. I tended to agree with Halle Berry who was sick of standing around looking pretty and having nothing interesting to do.
They did not make this mistake in X3.
The whole cast has finally really gotten a handle on their characters, and instead of the treat of watching actors I like playing superheroes I also like... I had the gourmet meal of watching my favorite comic characters come to life. Not only did this move fast and play hard... to me this *felt* like "the Xmen."
I enjoyed it immensely, despite some nits to pick. Go thou, and see this film. Help it make enough money that there might be more of them, at this quality.
Also: I played their stupid charity game and won free movie tickets. At nearly $9 each, that was quite a haul!
Friday:
I went to Lothlorien. Despite the fact that some of my gear had been left out in the elements and required about an hour's worth of my attention to make it usable, I manged to get on the road approximately when I wanted to do so. We got camp all set up with plenty of daylight left.
Elf Fest this year felt like a reunion, with plenty of new faces, too. Nearly 300 (or 300+ depending upon how they were counting) which was both good and bad. Bad because when the fests are this big, it's crowded and noisy and hard to find a good camping spot.
It's good because there's all that energy and the drumming and dancing is amazing, and you get to make 300 new close friends!
Folks, you missed some FUN. Come to Lothlorien, you know you want to!
More on this soon. I am entirely glad I went.
Saturday:
More festival, all awesome.
Sunday: Came home to a fantastic party at Mom's house.
Today I worked at the store and I'm about to eat dinner with one of my best friends from long long ago.
I am well and happy!
More details coming soon.
