Wreaking Havoc
Jan. 30th, 2005 11:49 pmSaturday I had to work, but went straight from there to
allura629 and
piratebob's Mary Kay party and Girl's Night Out.
It was rockin'.
We got a pair of hotel rooms out by Westport, intending to do the MK thing, get dressed up in our "going out" finery and going out as a fake "Bachelorette Party" for fun.
Goodness had nothing to do with it. We got a great crowd of girls to come out for Makeup and Mayhem. Although, we didn't get out the door until Midnight and Westport is all stupid about closing down around 1 am.
I should explain further:
We got all clean and then glammed up, and then got into our gear. Four of us were in corsets. One of us was in her Torrid Finery, and the other was showing off very nice legs. Three of us had tiaras, since
allura629 gave away a rhinestone tiara for the fake "bachelorette" and a smaller tiara for
piratebob as the hostess.
( cut for costume description. )
We strutted into Patrick's, got in one round of drinks right before Last Call, and decided that we were far from done. Our Bachelorette pointed out that her friend DJ Grimm was supposed to be playing on the East Side, and that would go until 3am at least.
Off we went. (BTW: $6 for a single drink is FCCing ridiculous. Bleah.)
We went to the OZ.
Ah, the wonderful OZ. One would think that someone like me who loves the OZ books and any reference to them... some one like me would LOVE the Oz.
UGH.
But, I was promised a very talented Goth DJ, so I figured that we ought to give it a try.
Side story:
Once, at the Oz, a leering drunk accosted me. He leaned way way into my personal space, pointed at my friend Sevenstar and said, "My friend wants ta dance wif YOUR friend. Can I dance wif you?"
UHN. /side story.
I hate those meat-market, open season, roiling masses of drunken mundanes. Bleah. These are NOT my people. I have never had the desire to pick up someone in a club. I go to dance with my existing friends and/or lovers, and my intention is to dance, enjoy the music, look amazing, and occasionally drink (although that has never been a great part of my desire to go to clubs.) I used to go to the City Center because it was a GAY club, so that I knew that I wasn't going to be hit on or leered at. Ok, occasionally a very nice lady would put a move on me, but women are smooth about this kind of thing. And I am polite. So there. Mostly the guys at such places are going to be appreciative of my outfit, or ignore me completely. Suits me just fine, man. I can go "Get my dance on."
The Oz is the same as it ever was. We made our "Intimidate" roll against two tragically hip young girls (One of which couldn't possibly be a day over 16, and spent the whole time using her phone to send text messages) and won their booth.
The booths are possibly the best things AT the OZ. The decor is actually very nice, and these booths look like the shell Aphrodite was born on. We gathered together with the additional Goth folks, and discovered that the special DJ wasn't playing because the secondary venue (Read: "Patio") was "too cold." WTF? So, instead we sat, drank, and made snide remarks about the people who were no doubt making snide remarks about us.
The music was... think top-40 occasionally "MASH"ing with decent music to make it interesting. We heard a few good mixes, but not many. Actually, I can listen to this stuff for hours and actually enjoy it, I just didn't hear anything I wanted to dance to for very long.
At one point, four of us went down to dance, and gathered a small throng of spectators.
I don't mean from the sidelines, these were painfully mundane guys who were STANDING completely still in the middle of the dance floor openly staring at us. By openly, I refer also to their mouths.
It was a little disconcerting. Then, they made an extremely clumsy 'move' on
piratebob. She told him that "That's not for YOU" and then gave us a face.
I leaned forward. "Should I be your 'girlfriend?" I asked.
She rolled her eyes and laughed. "Probably." she said.
So, we rearranged ourselves so that she was on the other side of our group, away from the muggle spectators. Of course, then they went right for
allura629. I wedged myself between at that point, and one of those creeps grabbed my hips and made a lame attempt to grind me.
I gave him aggressive body language: Changed posture, threw shoulders back, and stepped back with one foot, HARD. He let go, then I felt him come closer again.
You know, for some reason people don't like to get a faceful of my hair, or my particular style of head banging.
Poof. Off they went, quick like bunnies.
Bwa ha ha.
We re-hydrated, then got sleepy and left around 4am. I was out of my corset before we got in the car. Gee, that almost sounds like we didn’t’ have a good time. We did, it was fun and I’d love to do it again. I might even consider doing something like this three or four times a year…
We crashed hard then got up this morning, packed up and met my SO at Casa for their breakfast buffet. Yummy!
Then, back to the house for CRASHING some more. Nice long nap.
We rented Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle, and watched it. Review later. Short version?
I adore this stupid movie. I loved it in the theater, I loved it again on DVD, and I’ll probably buy a copy and inflict it on people randomly. Why I love a movie so steeped in pot smoking culture, I have NO idea. One warning: do not attempt to drive or operate heavy machinery under the influence of this movie. The stupid is contagious.
