New, spoiler-free review!

Yesterday I picked up a copy of "Dark Fury; The Chronicles of Riddick".

It's an animated featurette by Peter Chung. It was released on June 15th, and I grabbed my copy during my lunch hour.

I have often compared "Pitch Black" to "Alien". Recently, I compared "The Chronicles of Riddick" to "Alien Resurrection."

"Dark Fury" is clearly "Aliens."

Very well done. A reasonable story which takes place immediately following the action from "Pitch Black." In fact, there is a slight overlap.

And then, it sort of becomes Aeon Flux all of a sudden.

And I found that I really liked that. The voice talent was spot-on, all the returning characters were voiced by the actors who originated the roles. A character from "The Chronicles of Riddick" was also introduced, voiced by the same actor who plays him in the live-action film.

The storyline is somewhat trite, and straightforward. But the story unfolds beautifully, and features some of the best "nul-Gee" and "Low-Gee" footage I have ever seen. And the Animation is spectacular.

During one scene, my SO exclaimed, "Someone's been reading Ender's Game!"

I am glad that I saw "The Chronicles of Riddick" in the theater first, because this animated featurette would have raised my expectations too high.

One should definitely see these films out of sequence.

Start with Pitch Black. Go on. If you haven't seen it, go grab a copy. If you grab a copy of the new "special edition" re-release, invite me over to watch it with you. (There's a director's cut I haven't seen on there!)

Next, go watch The Chronicles of Riddick. BTW, if you buy the new "Pitch Black" re-release on DVD, you get a free movie ticket to see CoR in the theater.

Ok, you've just waded through four hours of movie. Got time for another 35 minutes? Good. Pop "Dark Fury" into the DVD player.

Ahhh...

In fact, if someone wants to do all of the above in the immediate future, I am game. Call me, or email me. I've got the original release of Pitch Black on DVD, and "Dark Fury" as well.

Ooohh.
Watch out, that's a fangirl squeal. Run away. Pay no attention to the words behind the cut. )

I can't claim any of these. My own spin might be applied to some of them, but these are simply some of the silly songs my mother taught me as a child.

The Window Song
This is a very silly sing-along parody of any and all children's verse.

Meme MEme meME.

Sounds like Dr. Honeydew's assistant is trying to warn us about something.

Ah. He's warning all of you away from my attempted MEME:

Can you name all of the original Letter People?

I have put the ones I could remember behind this cut. If you can fill in the blanks, I would appreciate it.

Come and meet the Letter People! )

So, anyone who can name Mr. J, Mr. K, Mr. L, Mr. P, Mr. Q, Mr. R, Mr. W, Mr. X, and Mr. or Mrs. Y gets my thanks and a virtual kiss.

"Come and meet the Letter People!
Come and be with the Family!
Words are made of Letter People!
ABCD, Follow me!"
