International Sushi
Apr. 20th, 2004 01:51 pmI have a "Crazy Idea."
I want to have an International Sushi Party.
Here's the premise:
Everyone brings items to make "international sushi" rolls.
For example, someone could bring ingredients for "Indian Sushi." which would include Jasmine rice, curry sauce, and Indian veggies.
Tex-mex sushi with salsa instead of wasabi. Or Wasabi Salsa.
German sushi? Since sushi rice is supposed to be seasoned with vinegar, couldn't we do some kind of sauerkraut/rice combo?
Italian sushi: Like a calzone but with rice instead of bread?
(I can't spell the "P" word) ham and cheese rolled up in rice and seaweed?
Scandinavian sushi with pickled or dried fish and northern seasonings?
Greek Sushi? Trade out the seaweed for grape leaves? Include Kalamata olives in the roll?
Russian sushi rolled in caviar?
Some of these could include raw fish, some could have other variations. The theme that ties it together is the rice and seaweed, but I could see other variations. Couscous for rice, for a middle-eastern flavor.
Who has a thought or two?
