You can donate a small amount, and get fabulous gifts or donate a small amount and opt to not get any gifts.
You can donate a large amount, too, but Kickstarter runs on the $1s and the $5s. Can you spare a dollar? Five? A twenty?
If we don't collect enough to meet our goal, the kickstarter doesn't happen. At that point, I'm in a position where I will be *personally* funding our guests. Being that September is Birthday Month that might suck a little bit. I'm willing to do it because I believe in the project, but I also want the Kickstarter to succeed.
We've been out there pimping this event and the kickstarter and while I'm getting a lot of lukewarm "Oh, great! a midwestern BJD con! We need one!" I'm not seeing the amount of registrations we need to succeed. The good news is that with the Kickstarter people can donate even if they're not able to come to the con. People can donate just because they like our idea, or they want to support what we do, even if they're not interested in coming to the convention. Many of the gifts have universal appeal, particularly the custom patch option. On Kickstarter it is only $6.
If you contact me through my business and want a custom patch, I'm first going to charge you a set-up fee (probably around $10) and then I'm going to charge you like $10 per patch. Here's a chance to get a patch with whatever you want on it (within reason) and I'll do it for the pittance of $6. You can even tell me what colors you want.
bakadragon is practically GIVING away her art, and you all know how awesome her art is. There are items hand-crafted by your favorite artists/costumers. Since when are you going to get a busy costumer to hand-make something for you?
