Conflation recap
Feb. 27th, 2012 09:02 amI'll be brief, since most of what happens at Conflation stays at Conflation...
Hee hee hee.
The Horny Party on Friday night went very well. The goat curry was a hit (it was the one foodstuff that was completely consumed) the bar was a hit (Most of my liquor cabinet has been cleaned out) and DJ Trollblood was a huge hit! Let us consider that a successful test of the equipment. For the first time that I can remember, we had plenty of food left over. (???) This was particularly good because I was able to eat all weekend by snacking on the leftovers. Mmm. Cashew butter...
The birthday party on Saturday afternoon was filled with silly fun. The costuming all weekend was pretty darned nifty. I didn't manage to sell any wings, but I didn't need to. A good friend of mine has published her first book! The Massage therapists seem to have had plenty of business. The Doll Masquerade was loads of fun and we got to announce the upcoming doll events at KawaKon, plus announce the BJD convention coming up in the fall.
Unfortunately, by the time I went down to the dance, they were no longer dancing. I get that the virgin raffle earns lots of money, but it seems to eat up an awful lot of the prime dancing time. I wonder if they might be willing to hold the raffle earlier in the evening so that people can get their virgins earlier and there can be dancing at midnight?
But patience is a virtue, and eventually they started playing music again so I got to dance. Yay!
The more unfortunate problem was the fact that we got hosed by the convention facilities, which are apparently handled through different management than the hotel. As such, we only had the bistro for Saturday night and all the rest of the convention facilities were off-limits for the entire weekend. I'm glad that assurances have been made that this will not continue. I had assumed (incorrectly) that Conflation's days of being screwed over by hotel facilities were over.
Fortunately, we are Fans and we know how to party, regardless of the situation. As to how we partied... well, what happens at Conflation stays at Conflation.
